Oracle iLearning Courseware Developer Resources

Seertech Solutions recognize that each LMS is a little different when it comes to preparing courseware for deployment. That’s why we have put together some useful resources that will go a long way in helping you, the courseware developer, better prepare your content for the Oracle iLearning LMS.

  • iLearning Course Interoperability Guide: Key things to consider when developing courseware for Oracle iLearning. This in-depth guide will assist you in achieving a successful outcome. It discusses best practices, supported formats, AICC and SCORM support.
  • iLearning PLUS Content Guidelines: A brief document that provides some solid guidelines on developing courseware for iLearning PLUS.
  • Oracle iLearning SCORM 1.2 Schemas: Oracle identified errors with the schemas released by ADL and have corrected them in their own release of the SCORM 1.2 Schema files. To import SCORM 1.2 content into the LMS, you must ensure you are using the Oracle schema files. NOTE: This asset is not required as of iLearning 5.2.
  • SCORM 1.2 Cross SCO: A simple courseware navigation assistance for learners progressing through a multiple SCO course that uses pre-requisites to force a linear pathway. This resource includes a PDF guide.
  • What’s My Canvas Size: Before the Instructional Designer puts pen to paper, you need to know how much screen real estate you are working with. Using this simple application you can quickly establish how many pixels you have to play with. See the iLearning Course Interoperability Guide (above) for some of the important considerations before measuring the canvas size. New features include built in Oracle iLearning Outline and Toolbar.
  • Launch SCORM or AICC Course Popup Window: Initially developed to launch a SCORM or AICC Lectora course in a popup window from the Oracle iLearning course player window, these easy to configure files can easily be adapted to any SCORM or AICC course that needs to launch in a popup window. This allows content developers to build courseware to a fixed size window and not use the Oracle iLearning “Open in new window” feature that can be problematic due to lesson statuses remaining to appear “Not Attempted” on the home page. Instructions for use are contained in comments within the source files.
  • Oracle iLearning Courseware Troubleshooting Guide: Having problems running SCORM or AICC courseware on the Oracle iLearning LMS? You might find this troubleshooting guide helpful. We have compiled some of the most common issues and recommended solutions to get your courseware up and running faster. We will soon be launching a diagnostic flowchart for AICC and SCORM to accompany this guide.

There are some other useful resources and tools for developing and testing SCORM 1.2 compliant courseware

  • Cooking Up A SCORM by Claude Ostyn: If you have never developed SCORM 1.2 content before, or need a refresher, this is an excellent starting point.
  • Reload SCORM 1.2 Player: Need to test your SCORM 1.2 content and make sure it is tracking correctly? The guys at Reload have put together an invaluable piece of software just for that. It is ideal for testing content locally and when you cannot access a sandbox for the target environment.
  • SCORM 1.2 Conformance Test Suite: Ensure your SCORM 1.2 courseware conforms to standards as recommended by ADL (Advanced Distributed Learning)
